Niykee continues to write songs, even though she has been swept up in the current chaos. Niykee was selected to be part of this year's YouTube Brandcast by Snoop and the rapper was with her on stage. A producer magnet Niykee constantly sifts through the many beats that are sent to her. She has found that the majority of them spark new music ideas. She claims that she is able to determine if the beat is a good one in less than 5 seconds. And then, a brand new track will come into her brain. I'll sit out on my front porch and play my guitar and lyrics appear and it's usually completed in less than thirty minutes. In her development her skills as a lyricist, Niykee explains that her pain from the past serves as an endless source of unimaginable sources of inspiration. "Even even if I'm not writing about my life directly, the sadness of losing my sister and my painful childhood are incorporated into my songs," she says. It influences my music and adds a greater sense of meaning that I believe is extremely important. I'd like to be able listen to my music 20 years from now and still feel proud about my words.
